People Change.
Two acoustic tracks, two vocal tracks, each separately through the condenser mic. Very little processing. Recorded during a massive snowstorm.
Don’t Follow Me.
We’re back — ‘nuff said. One raw track, one take - vocals+guitar.
Whisper.
More — new.
Go Outside.
This is our most recent track moved to the top for timeliness. All about quarantine therapy…
Wash Your Hands.
Song two in the stay-at-home series. Was inspired by a hand washing song Harper learned at school — and then it unfolded from there. Another live recording with vocals and acoustic guitar on a single track. We doubled it through the speaker monitors and microphone to achieve the tin-can sound.
Clouds.
Our first song. Two tracks of keyboard and a single vocal track. Harper sang this in one take inventing the melody and lyrics on the spot.
Island Sky.
This song title has been kicking around for awhile. This has three simple keyboard tracks - two of electric piano and a third of grand. Two vocal tracks appear here with second entering toward the end. Still learning the Tascam mastering tools - a little EQ and compression applied.
Big Day.
Harper has never heard Yo la Tengo — but, man Painful is being channeled here. This features two acoustic guitar tracks, three vocal tracks, and a subtle organ line behind the chorus. This was our first tune using a wired external mic (a cheap ProLine model), We’ve since upgraded. Tons of compression added to this one during mastering.
Ordinary Girl.
We’d been doing these scalar motifs with vocal humming for at least a year now. This trio of guitar tracks turned out a bit more driving than expected and Harper stepped up with a pretty bad ass vocal approach. No equipment changes.
Leaves in Your Hair.
This is the track that drove us to the condenser mic and a “Made in Germany” mic stand — after we hit a couple of blank spots due to movement. Three electric guitar tracks, two vocal tracks running concurrently, and a little drum loop made with the Amsterdam module on the Korg Gadget IOS app.
As I Want Be.
After a two week hiatus we’re back at it. The music here was made early and it took a few vocal takes to get it. Notable addition of Brazilian maracas,
